4/2/2012 - U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Kevin Davis, 476th Maintenance Squadron, removes an A-10C Thunderbolt II flare mount during a phase II operational readiness inspection at Moody Air Force Base, Ga., March 30, 2012. Flares are defensive mechanisms used to avoid detection and attacks by enemy air defense systems. Davis dismounted the flares as part of a post-flight recovery checklist for the aircraft.
